if everyone can go back to last spring, when i was gallivanting through korea, and the tragedy happened at my apartment...
the pipe burst over my kitchen.
the whole place flooded.
chaos ensued for about a month.
and i was in asia.
well thanks to the great ice storm of 2009, a damn tree fell on the back of my apartment.
first and foremost, a tree, that had to have been over 30 years old was destroyed, which makes me sad.
and my roof...
survived.
thank god for the craftsmanship of the carpenters from 40 years ago. now if they could've just talked to the plumbers...

NEW YORK CITY!!!!
when i think of the phrase new york city, i always think of that pace picante commercial they aired years ago. not how many times i have been there. not the fact that at this point in my life, i know more people in nyc, than in the place i have lived for 27 years. not the twin towers. i hear a stupid commercial in my head.
and i know i have spent too much time in the city, when first of all, i call it "the city". second of all, i hate it when tourists stop on the street for photos. get out of the damn way. google that shit. but don't stop in the middle of the danged sidewalk to take a photo of times square. it's loud, and bright, and busy. the solution to this is simple, move to the side. out of the way. i mean wow!
reminder: i am not a new yorker.
don't get me wrong, i do love it. it is the place where someone in my line of work, could thrive. i enjoy the hurry. i enjoy every tiny restaraunt, and deli i find. that there is a starbucks on virtually every corner. that i can fit in there with no real issues.
you're wondering right now, why i don't live there, aren't you faithful reader...
there are not enough trees. and don't even start with the central park arguement. that park doesn't hold a card to where i live.
i have a head-ache, and i am off to bed, and then...

um, really?
dear mother nature,
weather that freezes your skin?

are we being punished?
i recycle and have reduced my carbon footprint.
can i have a warm bubble to walk around in?
just asking, mother nature.
thanks,
paige

i was just thinking
i always go back and read my blogs. i check my grammar which is terrible. but here's my latest thought:
the train freaks me out which we all know, BUT
if there was a big ugly spider on the train, i would just die.
i am just sayin' people.
i have an active imagination, and i can freak myself out in less than 5 minutes. i have to stop now.

today
so today at work, i was doing so well, i was so organized...
everything was all labeled and neat.
everything had it's place.
then i got a phone call.
5 gigantic rubbermaid containers full of neat, organized, and labeled props. and two cardboard boxes of shit tossed in at the last minute. complete chaos for one hour of me scrambling to finish everything for a 5 o'clock pick-up. thank you mister truck driver for being early. i wasn't freaking out enough. communication friends, that is all i need, clear concise directions.
and that rant is over for now.
and i still want to pee a little thinking about the train. i need a cocktail.

the train
so let's talk about the train.
the train i am taking to nyc.
i fly.
i don't really do trains, per say. i have done a greyhound bus, and that is easy . but a train makes me a tad nervous. what in the hell do i do with my luggage????? yes, this is a bit of a trauma for me. is it like an airport? do you check in?
i can pull off big city, seriously, i can. except when it comes to trains. i can do subway, no problem, and i can even commute. but what the hell do i do with the big ass suitcase i have to take... this is really bothering me as you can see. i will be asking the proper peeps for advice. i am kind of embarrassed by my train/luggage fear. i wasn't going to tell anyone about this, but it is really too funny to not talk about. i mean for pete's sake, i am 33 years old, and i am freaked out by a train????? isn't that so silly? but i just can't get it out of my head. help me friends, help me...

tax season
is it weird that i am ready to knock out my taxes?
i mean i have no time for about the next 6 weeks to do taxes, or anything else for that matter, due to the job. but still i would like to go ahead and do my taxes. i would also like to be in tech. let's go on and get the craziness over with. let's get it done and be out. i am really excited about this show for some reason. i think it may have to do with the fact that it travels to all big cities;places i haven't been in quite awhile, and people i haven't seen in years. and for the first time in the history of me touring, i get to play my hometown, and stay at my place and walk to work. it's very exciting.
but back to the tax thing. i think i want to do them so bad because i finally remembered all of my receipts for my tax deductions. work related big items, and charity contributions. yup folks, i contribute regularly to different charities, in honor of dear friends, people i knew, and to better the less fortunate. who knew? i love to see peoples faces when they hear that about me. i give money for good causes that mean something to me. and i enjoy it. it makes me feel really good.
sounds a little self fulfilling and it might be, but somebody else benefits more, and that is all that matters...

the J.O.B.
so for my job i have to look at teeny pictures, pic out the proper items that match the pictures, and negotiate packing them away in a big box. sounds easy, doesn't it?
did i mention the pics are teeny?
and i sent some stuff i shouldn't have to nyc.
and there is one little bowl that is clearly hiding somewhere in a giant shop. damn bowl.
and does any show need that much fabric????? and dirty fabric??? and stuff that is not period for the show????
magician kids, i am a freaking magician.
and the giant shop is real cold.

fun at work
you know what's fun for me?
making shit up at work. unfortch, the person i need to be in full contact with is ill, therefor, i get to make shit up. it's nice, but if i mess something up there will be hell to pay.
and i am sorry this is so cryptic, but due to "said company" that i work for, i cannot mention their name, or exact facts. some blogging law type thingy, and maybe not as much law, as rules. and since i like my company, i don't want to get in too much trouble. i save trouble for when i actually do something real bad.
anyway, back to the making shit up... i am pretty good at it. i feel a bit like a magician with a very obvious slight of hand. you can see what i am doing, but you still love it all the same...
i should get ready for work now. got to practice my magic...

travel day
so i am on my way, and let's count the things i have forgotten.
1. ipod speakers. seriously? i always have them.
2. camera case. well actually, i can't find it at all. figures.
3. black sharpies. i'm a stagehand people. we love the black sharpies...
4. socks. yes, i have socks, but not near enough the normal number...
i am sure there are more things, and they will come to me, and don't worry i will share that info with you.
and i sure did give up my seat on a flight, not for a round trip ticket, but to fly first class. i am now an economy snob. i got spoiled coming back from tucson, and now all i think about is first class. think about it... you get to board first, people look at you in awe, they serve you drinks before takeoff, they treat you with love. way more love than the economy kids. in economy you don't even get a bag of nuts anymore, but in first class not only do you get heated nuts, but also warm cookies. and yes, i said heated nuts, stop giggling people. just know, right now i am awaiting that, "now boarding, first class cabin" announcement.
i plan to put my nose in the air, make no eye contact, and breeze on the plane...
i will probably trip.

it is confirmed
yes, diligent readers, i have done it. i have achieved 600 friends on that lovely little site we call facebook, or in my case crackbook. at least 400 are show peeps from various jobs. it's oddly comforting, and a little overwhelming at the same time. i just thought you needed to know.
i am also in my last 24 hours at home until march 30-ish. every time i leave home i get a little sad, because i am leaving friends and family, but my job is so danged cool. i used to plan weeks in advance for packing and such, and now i have become a "last minute" gal. like right now, i am blogging opposed to getting organized. i should be cleaning, laundry, packing, and all the other "close up the apartment stuff", but no, i am typing. figures. i have to have my morning coffee, and relaxation time, right?
ok, this is enough for now.

in an airport
sitting in the airport in tucson presently.
visit with friends fun, but kind-of odd.
going home for a sweet second, and sleeping in my own bed.
then off to the new J.O.B.!
